Musing at the Cannes 2015! (Part 1)

The star buzzing film festival is here, yes I’m talking about the Cannes Film Festival. The red carpet is one magnificent element for fans and fashion crazies alike. Over the years critics have been vocal about how the red carpet segment takes away so much of the actual gest of the film festival which is after all to highlight the films not the stars.

However, I think L’Oreal main sponsor at Cannes does a great job to bring celebrities from all around the World and getting the film festival highlighted globally than just in a few countries or continent. This in turn makes Cannes film festival one of the most prestigious festivals around the World.

Now getting down to business, this is my take on who made the best the worst red carpet choices.

Let’s roll my red carpet here!

1. Katrina Kaif :

This was Indian film super star’s first appearance at Cannes, as L’Oreal ambassador. I must say this was a disappointing start, the hair in red (well as I have learnt it is for an ongoing film of hers, so can’t blame her on that) but this is the Cannes. The Oscar De La Renta gown let her down and vise versa. I expected a better choice by her stylists for the opening, she is one of the most popular stars of the Sub-Continent.

Makeup choice was BLLAHH as well. Tan skin and black/grey eyes with red hair C’mon when will international makeup artists understand Asian, Sub-Continent skin tones.

2. Fan Bing Bing:

Chinese super star is a red carpet pro. As critics are quoting she “stole the show”. Yes this gown is by Ralph & Russo Couture and hard to forget. Way to stick to her roots the gown design is inspired from Chinese heritage. The embroidery with green on baby pink was exquisite with emerald Chopard jewels, she was a stunner. Her makeup was on point fresh face, winged eye-liner and subtle orange of lipstick.

 3. Liya Kebede & Doutzen Korres:

My favorite model Liya hardly disappoints is in Louis Vuitton ensemble, some may think it’s too much bling but Hello it’s the Cannes (all about the bling). Flawless and fresh makeup and a trendy lob letting her dress do all the talking.

Doutzen looked sexy in white Atelier Versace number, high slit, sheer detail in the middle of her dress all trends for spring/summer 2015. Simple makeup and a messy hair bun keeping it simple.

 4.Julianne Moore

The actress looked better than ever at 54 years of age. She channeled an Armani Prive gown. However, her makeup if you look closely, I can see one eye big the other small. God knows with will they stop giving her smokey eyes. The slick back hair are on point!

AAAHHHH let’s catch our breath here. This is a short round up of the Cannes 2015 red carpet, I will be back for more. The festival started from May 13, 2015 and will go on till May 24, 2014. Please leave a comment of what you thought and join me:
